Tungsten carbide, known as tooth of industry,is a high-hardness and high-strength material, its processing method is also different from ordinary metal materials. The following are common Tungsten carbide finishing methods:

1. Turning and milling of suppressed blanks

According to the size of the workpiece, the complexity of the shape and the production volume, most of the carbide blanks are formed by compression molding. In each pressing, in order to maintain the consistency of workpiece weight and size, it is necessary to ensure that the amount of powder flowing into the cavity is exactly the same. But when we encounter some custom-made parts with special shapes and small quanitty, Oston will choose to use CNC lathes to turn and mill the outer circle and plane on the basis of molded products. This processing method can reduce the blank allowance and reducing further grinding time and production cost.

2. Grinder grinding

The surface of the sintered cemented carbide is rough and there is a grinding allowance. we choose the appropriate grinding method according to the alloy tolerance and surface finish requirements. At present, the common ones are cylindrical grinding, inner hole grinding, centerless grinding and tool grinding. .

3. CNC grinding

Common carbide cutting tools are mainly processed by CNC grinding machines, such as carbide end mills, carbide rotary files, carbide drills, etc. The processing process has higher requirements for grinding machines and grinding wheels.

4. Wire cutting

Wire cutting is the most important cutting method of cemented carbide. According to its precision requirements, it can be divided into fast wire cutting and slow wire cutting. In recent years, medium wire cutting has also appeared.

5. EDM

The removal of workpiece material by EDM does not rely on the mechanical force of the tool, and there is no cutting force during processing, which avoids a series of equipment and process problems such as elastic deformation caused. EDM is mainly used for the processing of special positions such as thin walls and cavities of hard alloys, semi-sinking tables, narrow grooves and special-shaped blinded holes.

6. Surface polishing

Main polishing methods of tungsten carbide include mechanical polishing, chemical polishing, electrolytic polishing, ultrasonic polishing, fluid polishing, and magnetic grinding and polishing.
