Selection of tungsten carbide grades

The correct selection of tungsten carbide grades is a very important factor to ensure the effective use of tungsten carbide.According to different components, tungsten carbide can be mainly divided into the following three categories:

1.  ISO K-type tungsten carbide

The main components of K-type are tungsten carbide (WC) and cobalt binder (Co). According to the different cobalt content, K-type cemented carbide can be divided into many different grades, Generally speaking, the lower the cobalt content, the higher the hardness of the alloy, the better the wear resistance, and the higher the cobalt content, the higher the toughness and bending strength of the alloy, and the lower the hardness and wear resistance. Of course, we can also change the particle size of tungsten carbide to meet the requirements of hardness and bending strength at the same time.

2. ISO P-type cemented carbide

The main components are tungsten carbide, titanium carbide and cobalt, which is obtained by adding a certain amount of titanium carbide on the premise of tungsten-cobalt cemented carbide, and the Chinese brand structure is "YT+number". The number means the mass concentration of titanium carbide in the alloy, such as YT15, indicating that the titanium carbide content is 15%, and the rest content is tungsten carbide and cobalt.

3. ISO M general-purpose cemented carbide

Mainly composed of tungsten carbide, titanium carbide, tantalum carbide and cobalt, is obtained by substituting a certain amount of tantalum carbide for a part of titanium carbide under the premise of tungsten-cobalt-titanium carbide. Its grade structure is "YW + number", such as YW1, which means No. 1 general-purpose hard alloy.
