2.Grain Size
The concept of grain size is the measurement on the end face of the sintered cemented carbide after 1500-10000 times magnification of 1cm².The detection equipment is an scanning electron microscope(SEM). So the grain size is a microscopic concept for the crystal.usually the finer grain size, the better wear resistance, the lower the impact strength, but the ultra fine and submicron grain size are with strong impact strength too, choosing the appropriate grade with proper grain size according to the usage can effectively improve the service life of the hard alloy and reduce production cost for you.
Regarding the grain size of ultra-fine and nano-hard alloys, there is currently no unified standard in the world. The following is the mainstream classification:
| Classification | Nano | Ultra Fine | Submicron | Fine | Medium | Medium Coarse | Coarse | Extra coarse |
| Grain Size (um) |
<0.2 | 0.2-0.5 | 0.5-0.9 | 1.0-1.3 | 1.4-2.0 | 2.1-3.4 | 3.5-5.0 | >5.0 |
